Arklow railway station is located on the main east-coast line between Dublin and Rosslare. The station sees commuter services to Dublin Connolly and Gorey, and also intercity services to Rosslare Europort. The photo was taken from the railway bridge looking north.

Arklow is situated on the South Eastern Suburban, between Rathdrum and Gorey.

The station opened on 16 November 1863 and serves the town of Arklow in County Wicklow. Arklow station consists of two platforms, one of which is served by a passing loop.

As with other stations on the between Wicklow and Rosslare Europort, semaphore signalling and ETS operation ceased here in April 2008, with the line now being under the control of the mini-CTC system. A colour-light signal existed here in semaphore days, having been installed in 1977.
